Finalist at the Construction Computing Awards 2026
Shell Element Designer is a finalist for Structural Engineering Application of the Year at the Construction Computing Awards 2026, the Hammers. The winner is chosen by public vote, open until 30 October.

Shell Element Designer has been named a finalist for Structural Engineering Application of the Year at the Construction Computing Awards 2026. Run by Construction Computing magazine, the awards are known across the industry as the Hammers, and this is their twentieth year.
We share the shortlist with some of the best-known names in structural engineering software. For a small UK team, that is something we are very proud of.
The winner is chosen by public vote
Structural Engineering Application of the Year is a public vote category, so the result is decided by the people who use the software. If Shell Element Designer has saved you time on a wall or slab design, we would be grateful for your vote. It takes about two minutes.
Vote for Shell Element Designer on the Construction Computing Awards site. Voting closes on 30 October 2026.
What the software does
Shell Element Designer automates the reinforced concrete design of walls and slabs from finite element results, to Eurocode 2, ACI 318, ACI 349M and AFCEN RCC-CW. It designs every element for every load case, shows the working for checkers and regulators, and turns required reinforcement into buildable, optimised zones in the Reinforcement Applicator. Its reinforcement plots now also state the embodied carbon of the steel, currently in beta.
On a live UK nuclear new build, the software delivered 13 complete designs covering 71,266 elements and 6,728 load cases in under two hours of calculation.
What happens next
The winners will be announced at the awards evening in London on 12 November 2026. Later that month, on 25 November, we will also find out how we have done at the TechFest Awards 2026, where we are a finalist in five categories.
Thank you to everyone who has trusted Shell Element Designer on their projects, and to everyone who takes a moment to vote.
